Subscriptions you can cancel in five minutes
An Easy rating goes to subscriptions that respect the user — a direct cancellation URL, no mandatory phone call, no more than one retention screen. These are the cancellations you can complete in a coffee break. They tend to be from companies that already comply, at minimum, with the FTC's 2025 Click-to-Cancel rule.
What this rating means: An Easy rating means a single online cancellation flow, fewer than two retention screens, and an effective date within the current billing cycle. Total time: usually three to five minutes.
Ranked by US search demand
- 01
Cancel Netflix
Streaming · If Netflix bills you directly, cancellation is a genuinely fast two-click online flow (Cancel, then Finish Cancellation) with no retention phone tree or fee. Difficulty only spikes when you were signed up through a third party (Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon, Comcast/Xfinity, T-Mobile, etc.) because the Cancel button is then absent from your Netflix account and you must hunt down and cancel at the actual biller instead.

Cancel Spotify
Music & Audio · For people who pay Spotify directly with a card or PayPal, cancelling is genuinely easy: log into the web account page, open Manage your subscription, scroll down and click Cancel Premium, then confirm. There is no retention call, no phone tree, and no hidden fee. Difficulty only rises when billing runs through a third party (Apple App Store, Google Play, or a mobile/internet provider bundle), because then the in-app and web cancel options disappear and you must cancel with that partner instead. There are no refunds in the US, so the only real catch is timing the cancellation relative to your billing date.

Cancel ChatGPT Plus
Software & SaaS · If you subscribed on the web, cancellation is a genuinely self-service, few-click flow inside Settings that hands off to a Stripe-hosted billing portal with no retention gauntlet. The real difficulty is the platform-lock trap: people who bought ChatGPT through the Apple App Store or Google Play cannot cancel inside ChatGPT at all and must go to Apple/Google, and many waste time hunting for a Cancel button that does not exist on their platform.

Cancel Apple Music
Music & Audio · Cancellation is fully self-serve online with no retention agent, no phone-only requirement, and no early-termination fee. The main friction is that the Cancel button is not inside the Apple Music app but buried under your Apple Account's Subscriptions screen, and that subscriptions started via Google Play or a carrier bundle cannot be canceled through Apple at all.

Cancel Disney+
Streaming · If you're billed directly by Disney+, the online flow is short and self-service: log in, Profile, Account, Cancel Subscription, Complete Cancellation. Difficulty only rises if you were billed through a third party (Apple, Google, Amazon, Roku, or a Hulu-managed bundle), because Disney+ cannot cancel those and bounces you to the partner.

Cancel PlayStation Plus
Gaming · Self-service cancel is genuinely available in three places (web Account Management, PS5, PS4) with a clearly labeled "Cancel Subscription" button and no retention gauntlet or phone-only trap. It rates "easy" rather than trivial only because the button is buried under a left-menu "Subscription" item, "cancelling" really just disables auto-renewal (benefits run to period end), and refunds beyond 14 days are not available.

Cancel NordVPN
Software & SaaS · For subscriptions bought directly from nordvpn.com, turning off auto-renewal is a self-service toggle inside the Nord Account billing dashboard with no retention wall or phone requirement. Difficulty rises to medium-feeling only when you bought through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Amazon (you must cancel in that store, not Nord) or when you want an actual refund, which requires going through live chat rather than a one-click button.

Cancel Grammarly Premium (Grammarly Pro)
Software & SaaS · Self-service cancellation is fully online from the Subscription page and takes only a few clicks, with no phone call or email required. The minor friction is a two-step confirmation ("Continue"/"Yes, continue" then a mandatory cancellation-reason selection) and the fact that the link redirects you through a sign-in. The real trap is not difficulty but money: there is no proration or refund, and if you bought through Apple's App Store you cannot cancel inside Grammarly at all.

Cancel Apple TV+
Streaming · Apple TV+ is genuinely easy to cancel when billed directly by Apple: it is fully self-service, takes one to two minutes, has no retention call, no save-offer interstitial, and no phone or in-person requirement. The only real friction is finding the buried Subscriptions menu (under your name/account icon, not under "Apple TV+" itself) and the trap of third-party billing — if you signed up through Google Play, Amazon, or a carrier bundle, Apple cannot cancel it and you must go to that provider instead.

Cancel Costco Membership
Memberships & Misc · Costco cancels at any membership desk or by phone and refunds 100% of the membership fee at any time — one of the most consumer-friendly cancellation policies of any membership.
Easy~15 minRead → - 11
Cancel Nintendo Switch Online
Gaming · For memberships bought directly from Nintendo, turning off auto-renewal is a genuinely short self-service flow on the Nintendo Account website (accounts.nintendo.com/portal) or in the eShop on the console — no phone call, no retention agent, no email. The friction is conceptual, not procedural: there is no instant 'cancel and refund' button (you only stop the NEXT renewal), you must act at least 48 hours before expiry, and there are no refunds for the remaining term. It becomes harder only when the sub was bought through the iOS App Store, Google Play, or an in-game purchase, because Nintendo cannot cancel those and you must use the third-party store instead.

Cancel Claude Pro
Software & SaaS · If you subscribed on the web, cancellation is a genuinely simple self-serve flow: Settings > Billing > Cancel, with no retention call or phone tree. Difficulty only rises if you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, because Anthropic cannot cancel those for you and you must do it inside Apple/Google's own subscription settings instead.

Editor's note
Bookmark these direct URLs. Companies that hide their cancel page often had a direct URL once and then moved it — saving the link is a small hedge.
